Mostofthephenomenaintheworldaroundyouare,atthefundamentallevel,basedonphysics,andmuchofphysicsisbasedonmechanics.Mechanicsbeginsbyquantifyingmotion,andthenexplainingitintermsofforces,energyandmomentum.Thisallowsustoanalysetheoperationofmanyfamiliarphenomenaaroundus,butalsothemechanicsofplanets,starsandgalaxies.Thison-demandcourseisrecommendedforseniorhighschoolanduniversitystudents,scienceteachersandanyonewithacuriosityaboutbasicphysics.Thecourseusesrichmultimediatutorialstopresentthematerial:filmclipsofkeyexperiments,animationsandworkedexampleproblems,allwithafriendlynarrator.You'lldoarangeofinterestingpracticeproblems,andinanoptionalcomponent,youwilluseyouringenuitytocompleteat-homeexperimentsusingsimple,everydaymaterials.Youwillneedsomesimplehigh-schoolmathematics:arithmetic,alittlealgebra,quadraticequations,andthesine,cosineandtangentfunctionsfromtrigonometry.Thecoursedoesnotusecalculus.However,wedoprovideastudyaidintroducingthecalculusthatwouldaccompanythiscourseifitweretaughtinauniversity.Bystudyingmechanicsinthiscourse,youwillunderstandwithgreaterdepthmanyofthewondersaroundyouineverydaylife,intechnologyandintheuniverseatlarge.Meanwhile,wethinkyou'llhavesomefun,too.
